DuPont Nature Center at
Mispillion Harbor Reserve

Grand Opening

DuPont and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) have partnered to develop an interpretive center located at the mouth of the Mispillion River in Milford, Del. The aptly named DuPont Nature Center at Mispillion Harbor Reserve will officially open to the public on May 23, 2007 and among other things, will provide visitors with the optimum viewing location for the intersection of Red Knot migration and horseshoe crab spawning.

A grand opening ceremony will coincide with the DuPont Nature Center’s official opening. Representatives from the state of Delaware and DuPont will have an active role in the opening events which include a dedication ceremony, volunteer river cleanups and educational seminars.

DuPont, under its Clear into the Future initiative, has jointly underwritten the creation and construction of the interpretive center with DENREC. This renovated bayside facility will feature environmental exhibits and be the host location for on-site educational programs and workshops. Visitors to the interpretive center will include students and teachers, as well as families, eco-tourists, anglers, birdwatchers, photographers and beachcombers.
