Tri-State Bird Rescue

Injured, orphaned, and oiled wild birds have a fighting chance.

Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research, located in Newark, Del, is wholly dedicated to rehabilitating birds and other wildlife, with the ultimate intent of releasing healthy animals back into the wild.

Thousands Rescued
Wild birds in the tri-state area are heavily subject to the influences of humankind, often to their detriment. At Tri-State, the staff treats many species of birds ranging from injured eagles that have flown into power lines, to oiled waterfowl contaminated from the effects of industry, to tiny baby hummingbirds that have become orphans. The dedicated staff treat other animals impacted by oil spills, including mammals and reptiles—but their focus is avian wildlife rehabilitation. Additionally, the Tri-State oil response team has traveled around the world assisting with response efforts and training counterparts on effective cleaning procedures and protocols.

Doing Our Part
DuPont proudly puts science to work for Tri-State by periodically surveying different soaps to verify which one is most effective in cleaning oiled birds. A number of DuPont employees also volunteer their time with the organization.

An Invaluable Contribution
Recognizing Tri-State's efforts with compromised wildlife DuPont was an enthusiastic Eagle Sponsor of their recent 30th Anniversary Gala, A Flight of Fancy, at Longwood Gardens, in Kennett Square, Pa. The event capped a year long celebration of an important milestone for the organization—thirty years of giving injured, orphaned, and oiled wild birds their best, if not only, chance for survival.
