Challenges Facing Our Estuary Community

The Delaware River and Estuary face many threats from its surrounding communities. Pollutants such as herbicides, motor oil, and other chemicals seep from our homes into the river carried by rainwater. New construction intrudes on the delicate balance of the ecosystem, leaving the Estuary’s inhabitants, like the horseshoe crab with less living space. Communities around the Delaware are taking more initiative in improving conditions around the Estuary and River, but there is more we can do.
